Antibiotics and loss of appetite

my boy has been on Keflex for some skin issues over the last 14 days. He was never a huge eater and sometimes could care less about food but would still eat his meals. throughout the course of Keflex he has started eating less and less. He has never thrown up or had diarrhea. Just eats less and less. At first I would mix in some wet food and that worked a little now that does not work. Now I wrap some kibble in lunch meat just to get something in his stomach. He turns his nose up at straight kibble now. He will be finished the antibiotics tomorrow. im not sure also if it is behavioral because at first when he seemed disinterested I would hand feed him some kibble just to get something in his stomach. Any opinion is appreciated

I have used the probitotics

I put it on his food. He licks it off then walks away. this slowly happened over the past two weeks I really think it is more behavioral now. He is done the keflex today but i think he took advantage of me trying to get him to eat putting his food with little pieces of cold cuts. This morning I mixed an egg in and he licked two bites and walked away but just as a test I gave him a piece of food roll and he gbbled it down.

Its also not unusual to get "gas" while taking a/b's...

and sometimes this causes diarrhea, sometimes just "gas" and sometimes just an unwillingness to eat due to intestinal upset. Many give probiotics for this reason...since the a/b's tend to alter/destroy some of the good bacteria in the GI system along with the bad...and in some cases you can just put your ear to the dog's belly and listen to the grumbling! Next time you need to put this dog on a/b's, consider giving probiotics at the same time, either from your health store or even off the shelf at your local pharmacy.

The keflex can cause an upset stomach

He may just be a little nauseous. You can give one 10 mg pepcid once a day before you give the keflex. It's also recommended to give it with food.
