Ant bites on Vagina

Ok two days ago Sophia get three ant bites on her vagina. Of course she went crazy so I gave her Benadryle and put cream on it to calm it down. Today the bites look like they want to get infected. I cleaned the area and then put baby powder on it to make sure its dry. I also gave her more benadryle to keep her from rubbing the area and have her crated so she doesn't rub either. Is there anything else I should do? Should I put a antibo. cream to make sure they don't get infected since its right next to the vagina( the skin around the vagina)

Put her in the bathtub...

gently soap the area with some antibacterial soap (Dial?) and rinse well. When dry, you can put on a thin layer of anti-itch cream like 1% cortisone commonly used for mosquito bites. If you clean the area first with a baby-wipe during the day, you can apply another bit of cortisone in the evening. Hopefully 2-3 days is all it will need to settle down the itch. The Benadryl may also help the itch but it can cause drying of mucus membranes so she may end up with a vaginal itch due to dryness...small likelihood but possible, so you need to be sure that you're only medicating her EXTERNALLY with the wipes and creams. happy.gif
