If I am not mistaken, animax is just a different name for panalog ointment. At 1800pet meds it says that Animax is a generic equivalent to Panalog.
According to the BCA website:
"Panalog Ointment is a good all purpose ointment for minor skin afflictions. Also good for cleaning wrinkles, tail pockets and ears. Do not put in his eyes."
My vet has prescribed Animax for Peetie's ears, and to be honest I had more luck with it than the Otomax, and it has so many more uses. So don't throw those tubes away!

Animax is a topical a/b cream or ointment. IMO, it works better on skin pyodermas that are not yeast problems.

Otomax is an ointment for the treatment of ear infections so that would work better cuz you need an anti yeast product for under the tail.

Personally, I would use an ear wash cleanser like Epi Otic, Nolvasan or Oti Cleanse under the tail. I used to use Epi Otic on Sumo before he had his tail removed. I have never used them but many swear by Malaseb Pledgetts.

All of these products have ingredients to stop yeast and bacteria. Since they are cleansers, all you do is wet a cotton ball and clean under the tail. No need to rinse and it dries on its own. You can use to clean facial folds, under the tail, inbetween toes and, of course, as an ear wash.

This is what I do with good results. Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar & water, squirt some in the ear, then make sure you wipe it out good, repeat 2x a day for 2-3 days then once a day for a few more days, in addition we use otomax. I am sure there are good cleaning solutions you can buy also.

and animax is like panalog, more of an antibiotic cream. I wouldn't use animax in the ear for a regular infection.

It's for ears, not tail.
