Update on Lola and Adoption

Well my wife and I made the gut wrenching call to put Lola up for adoption.  I realize its not going to be easy to find a home for her after a documenated bit of a child but Lola has a lot of life left and would be a wonderful addition to the right family.  I am working with River City Bulldog rescue but their foster homes are full so she has to stay with me untill a spot opens up.. I am not sure if this will be a quick process, seems like the needs of dogs in shelters and sick would take priority over lola which I understand but in the mean time I just want to manage the situation with her and my son the best as I can.  They are not in the same room at all anymore under no circumstances.. I used to exercise an hour a day but now thats Lola's playtime now.. sucks but just cant bare the thought of seculding her.. We involve her when Isaac is up in his high chair on in his stroller and after isaac goes to sleep or naps she is out with us and sleeps in our room.. Seems manageable now and makes me doubt giving her up but its stressfull and limits family time.. baby 2 is due in March and we just cannot live in fear of our bully.. shes fine 98% of the time cant take the chance...  I am not sure the forum rules but if River City is still full in a few weeks I will need to find other options in resuces.. I cant put her with any friends or family none fit the qualifications.. plus It may confuse lola to see me.. SIGH.. helpless feeling

Can I post on here for possible family's to adopt her?

I dont want to bypas resuces but I also know I am a good judge of character and would fully check the people out and there homes before re-homing her..  wasnt sure the forum rules..

where are you again?

I am contemplating getting a new bully since mine just passed... how old is Lola? gets along with other dogs? we don't have kids and we are in CA.

I am sorry you are going thru this.. I don't know what I would do.

In Virginia I believe. But don't let that stop you, there are doggie transports all across the country!

Lola will be going to Bullies 2 the Rescue in NC

Cathy and the crew from Midatlantic forwarded my story and they contacted me last night.  I visited their site and facebook page and really feel like this is a good spot.  She will be able to go into foster right away and I think once she is removed from my house she will stop some of her ways.  Its with a heavy heart that I filled out the surrender form today.. I think Lola will be my last bulldog, that may change and I hope it does over time but that girl made a impact on me and even though this is not the way I wanted us to part it is hopefully greating a new life for her, free of the stress of the baby and hopefully back to doing dog things.. love that dog more than anything.. tough times to come but ill lean on my sweet baby boy, wife and baby to be for support and hopefully see some amazing progress with Lola to get me through it.. thanks again guys this site and all the rescues associated with it are a blessing..

Hey, I feel sure you'll

have another bully in your life oneday. Theres no better dog for kids to grow up with. Be happy with the loving decison you have made. Keep us informed when she gets to her forever home.

Hugs from Kofi and me.

We're all thinking of you

We know how much you love Lola and hard this decision has been for you. I admire you for your honesty in talking about what happened and dealing with it. We are here for you anytime.

Lola will be in very good hands.

I know how horrid this is for you. Do yourself a favor, don't neglect to get another bully someday to grow up with your kids. They are, for the most part, great family pets. I have not had a bully be aggressive toward a child, but then, I have only had my Sophia and Isabella.

My prayers are wtih you my friend. Keep us posted.

Lola will do fine

I wish all of you the best of luck. I'm sorry that you are going through this, but you have made the best decision for you and your family.
