puppy biting

Hi have had our new pup for 4wks now and she's settled in nicely aside from the constant biting ! We've tried yelping , ignoring , shouting and she just doesn't get that it hurts . We say leave and reward her but she's back at it almost instantly . Feet and hands are her favourite . Any suggestions to try and curb it would be most welcome.

You can try spraying your feet...

and hands with bitter apple.  Hopefully, she will not be one of the dogs that like the taste.  Keep saying no and offering an acceptable chew toy, she will catch on eventually.

Bitter apple

I start my spraying my hands with it... then if they don't stop, I spray some right into their mouth... I used to coat my body with it when I had a Rottweiler, she hated me in the beginning... LOL I had to do the training with her! Bitter Apple is our friend!!!!

Right into the mouth

WOW! Have you tasted Biter Apple yourself? Maybe you should try it. Not a positive experience. I do not recommend this option if you would like you puppy to have a positive training experience.

Give it a try yourself and let me know how you like it.

It is the most common question

about bulldog puppies. Have you asked your breeder? They should be your first responder.

Bulldog puppies are notorious for being big biters during the teething process. Consistency trading approved toys for toes, fingers, etc. during the teething process.

What other breed is teething and also has a huge change in jaw during the process?

Biter apple helps, it is an invasive non-positive training option. A better option is a positive and consistent training option. "NO BITE" and provide a suitable toy as a replacement.

We used to wet

a sock, tie it in a knot and freeze it - they love to chew on that, especially when they are teething. Might help

frozen knotted sock

What a great idea. Everytime I give the pups a toy, Gus takes it away and hides it. but I have a whole basked of odd socks that I can use for them. Thanks for the tip.

Have you try a water bottle

Loulou hates the water bottle. water is safe and with the right chew toy and you saying No Bite. Even let the puppy know there is time out in the crate for this. Don't give in. But I don't like the Bitter apple stuff myself. They are like our children. It's up to you to train them and have them listen to you.
