A few blocks up from me is a beautiful Bassett hound who gets no attention, is left outside year round; why these people even own a dog is beyond me.
I go see him every day around 12 noon and rub his ole big ears and give him a dog biscuit. I really wanna take this dog and get him to someone who will love him and not make him stay out this Summer but don't know what to do.

That just breaks my heart, Dave
Your buddy has such a sweet face. Wouldn't it be a shame if a plank or two of that fence just somehow rotted out overnight and Ace walked away to a lovely new home???

About 30 years ago, I made a neglected Basset Hound
disappear. Like Ace, he was left outside, no one paid any attention to him, he was in terrible shape, so poof! Would never recommend this method to anyone.
I would call Basset rescue to see if you could talk the owners into surrendering him, would rescue be able to take him immediately. I would also ask you friends/family etc., if they would be interested in him and again, maybe the owners would be willing to give him up.
Good luck

oh my.........how sweet.................
and how nice of you to visit him every day. I wonder if they have ever thought of giving him up, since it appears they don't have time for him.
He is a beauty!
Miss you sweet boy Otie (July 29, 2013)
Sweet thing
Thanks goodness he has some taste of human kindness with you, Dave!
Where are you? I have a friend who works with bassette rescue in New Jersey.
Thanks everybody :)
I'll see what I can do to get him to a new home. The owners would probably give him up considering how they treat him.

Bassets and bullies mix well!
Bassets and bullies mix well! Ours get along perfectly. Poor little Ace. My basset Dixie loves being outside--but not for long! She is also snugly and loves attention. You are very kind to visit him every day.
