Maybull's health problems
Submitted by Stephanie and David on August 12, 2013 - 12:45pmPoor Maybull has been having some health problems for the last several months. During most of her 13.5 years, she's been healthy, with none of the 'bulldog health issues' I've seen in some other dogs. But she started having breathing problems. Three sets of x-rays, an exam by a canine cardiologist, $1,500+ of antibiotics and she's better, but not 100 percent. We have an echocardiogram scheduled on Thursday.
Here's what we know; She may or may not have part of her lung that's not working right. Her heartbeat is very, very slow; 50 per minute. Somethimes she seems confused (lack of oxygen?). She's the center of the universe in our house, but we realize that at her age...well, she can't live forever. We can't imagine life without her but we know that someday she won't be with us.
So far, she seems generally comfortable, but she gets very stressed with any change in her routine. Right now, she's napping a couple of feet away.
I'll keep posting any updates. I know you folks understand about this. Thanks for understanding.
Sweet Maybull
With Stella, we felt that as long as she was eating and seemed content, she was not meant to leave us yet. It was only when those two things went that we let her go.

for whatever the reason-i had my archie 17 months and it migh as well have been 17 yrs...
nomatter what happens steph...she KNOWS she has been adored by you and your hubby and
well taken care of-better than royalty!

After I read this is made me think of Tucker getting older. I can't imagine what that is going to be like. He's so spunky and full of it that I can't imagine him slowing down. Please know we are sending you and your whole family positive thoughts. I know you will keep treating Maybull like the Queen she is
