Long time no post...

Today I took my (almost) 9 year old bulldog, Magnolia to the vet...

I found her through some contacts on this forum back in 2005...

She's been eating less the past few weeks, and after a week on vacation, we got her back from my in-laws, she looked bad.  She had some labored breathing, dependent edema, and just didn't look like herself.  Being a physician, I immediatley assumed the worse...brought her to the vet.  Chest x-ray done, big heart, pleural effusion.

Vet started her on an ACE inhibitor and some lasix, we'll see how she does this week.

If anyone around here believes in prayer, and doesn't mind spending a second to send one her way...I'd appreciate it.  I spend most of my days dealing with people who are dealing with their own crisis, and have become somewhat numb to disease processes and illness... but this has really hit home.

There's no friend like a dog, and no dog like a bulldog.

I know what you are going through, as many of us here do.  I found great comfort in knowing others really cared about a health crisis when you are faced with it and the bulldog you love.

Poor Maggie passed away.

She seemed to be doing somewhat better overnight after a dose of lasix, she got another dose of lasix this AM, but when our neighbor came to check on her around 11, she was barely able to lift her head and was having some very shallow breathing.

I left work and made it home right after she passed away.... Thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes.  A very crappy day to say the least.

I am so sorry for your loss. RIP Maggie

Always a very difficult time, but time heals.
