Found a black widow in the screen door frame.

Are they lethal for bully's?  I tried to kill it, but it ran into the door frame.  I tried to flush it out with water from the top, but nothing but ants came out (arrgh!! aaaaants!)  now I'm getting ready to make a trip to Home Depot for something....anything.  Fatboy loves to try and eat spiders, so this scares me.

We have a lot of black widows here along with...

scorpions but never had one of our guys bitten.  I've read online that it can cause problems for some dogs if they react badly and it's a good idea to take them to the vet immediately if they get bit.  If you google black widow bites in dogs there is a lot of information.  You can wait until its dark tonight and then get a flashlight and a can of Raid and examine your door area, they usually come out at night.  I go around the patio and any areas where the dogs can get to and do that every month or so or when I see any of the super sticky webs that they spin.

A Black Widow bite can be lethal to dogs.

It depends on how quickly they get vet care. Not all bites are lethal, but enough of them are that being very caustious is imperitive. A good spider spray will kill them, but water won't. We have them everywhere, I just killed three this morning inside a screened in doorway that we don't use often. one way to identify that a black widow spider is around is the very "disorganized" web they build. It isn't like a normal web at all, but is rather belter shelter and sloppy. The only good they do is they kill scorpions. But that isn't a good enough reason for me to keep the spiders around!

these bites can be dangerous to people, too

Dogs and people should avoid these dangerous spiders. We don't heve them up here (especially this time of year) but perhaps people in your area will know what to do.

Yes, I agree with Stephanie...

They can be dangerous to people as well.
