Yes

This little guy has already had hives twice. Either from the Johnson's baby shampoo or his heartgard so I switched to oatmeal hypoallergenic and from now on going to request non beef flavored heartgard. Yes he is my first one so everybody's help is really appreciated. I waited I guess almost 20 years I've been wanting one and finally bought one. I'm 34. Lucy is cute looks like a sweetheart.

Sorry to hear that

They are another dog I always loved. My buddy has one and he is really gentle with Sherman it's pretty funny the contrast in size. Yea he's pretty sweet too. He likes to play rough sometimes but that's about it. He likes to sleep on people's face which cracks me up when his mushy face plops down on yours.

We had been feeding our dogs Wellness

foods for years with no issues. Recently switched to Premium Edge Salmon and again, have no problems. In the last 18 years we have and or had 14 dogs, not counting fosters and all did great on the fish based foods.

Good luck

That is a great help

If he doesn't do well with the lamb I am going to try switching to fish. Honestly if I don't get to the bottom of the allergy quickly I'm just gonna pay to have the test done because I don't want to put him through trials again and again nor do I like to stress and wonder.

The fish based foods are what have worked best for us

I've tried others, chicken/turkey/lamb/beef etc., but one or more dogs didn't do well with the switch.

I agree with the fish recommendation...

some dogs dont do well with lamb or chicken and beef is usually too high in protein.  We use Natural Balance duck potato (grain free) but have also used Taste of the Wild salmon/sweet potato and they did well on that.  We just switched to duck for a little variety.

Well

I have a huge bag of merrick lamb and brown rice plus apples. I hope he does well lol. But if not that will def be the next route I take.

Seriously, send that little chubby chunk to me

and you won't have to worry about what to feed him.

Sure is a cutie.

Meaty has been on MANY food trials because of chronic

interdigital cysts and ear issues.  As you probably know, bullies are known to have allergies....and that

can lead to overgrowth of yeast, which causes his ear and cyst issues.  Soooo, NO GRAINS for Meaty!
(Thank goodness, Sophie hasn't had these issues!)  Our vet is very bulldog knowledegable and

want them on a fish-based diet. He does NOT think allergy testing is reliable enough, so that's

why we haven't done it....plus, we think his allergies *could* be environmental...

....

"Core Wellness" is a highly rated food, and they've been on the

SALMON one for quite a while.  Hate to say, it has NOT helped Meaty's paw problem, BUT it is

a quality food, and I also like that it has NO chicken whatsoever, which our vet also says could

be a problem..... Good Luck! :-)

Thanks for input

Saw the other posts too I'm sure Sherm would get all goofy and excited if he heard ur oohing and ahhing lol. Yea that reminds me of another thing he has had going on is just a super stinky face even though I clean a lot. Vet said no infections but that it was probably yeast I smell. So another possible food thing. Tomorrow he gets 50% new food so I'm getting closer to seeing how he does on this stuff. He definitely loves to eat it cause he gets excited when he sees me messing with the bag. With the royal canin he actually would not bother to even get up half the time when I filled his bowl cause I guess he didn't care that much and only ate it when he was hungry enough. So I hope he does better on it cause I know he likes it. And actually it may be in my head but he seems to already have his coat looking better. It was starting to look dry and he was shedding more. Now his brown spot look brown again instead of ashy.

Fromms beef frittata

I just started my kids on this and have gone through many different kinds of food trying to understand which one agrees with them both so I am crossing my fingers as I have began something that I am hoping will work for them. I also tried the home cooked meals lol but I really thought that they were putting on to much weight to easily soooo long story short I am happy to say I enjoyed making it and adding the supplements an all but being new to the home made stuff can sure get a doggy fat and fat fast. So off they went and onto the fromm and the measuring cup came out lol . The poop so far has been great and I did the transition very slow so as a pooper scooper daily I am happy to say we do have nice poop.

ShermanK's picture

Nothing beats great poop

Lol. Yea I was considering Fromm. Today I have the congestion issue again. Didn't do it at all until he ate. I'm at about 50% new food now so still don't know yet bu I can't wait till a couple days from now so I can see if it was the RC. Paw licking too.

We had so much trouble

Finding a good food for Winnie. She was 4 when we got her in September. She was on Purina Pro plan non shredded formula. We couldn't find the non shredded and like grain free so we tried Ulta- too much protein for her. She had a lot of bm problems with it. Then we switched to V-dog and thought that was working, but it wasn't good for her. Now we found the Pro plan non shredded and put her back on that. I would like to give her a "better" food, but Pro Plan seems to work best for her.

ShermanK's picture

I guess

What ever works best is really the way to go. I see people saying they feed Origen and their dog has constant diarhea. Only reason I'm switching is allergies really.
