I almost always get rescues in whose names are unknown.

So I give them a name I like, and after a few days they respond to it. Dogs are easy that way:-)

I volunteer at an all breed rescue and...

their names are always changed when they come in.  They don't want any memories of their old lives.  We also got Newman when he was almost a year old.  His name was Ringo and it just didnt fit.  He took to Newman very quickly.

When we got Gizmo .. her name was Chloe....

And she just didnt look like a Chloe . . .

She picked up and learned Gizmo really well :)

BTW Gizmo and Hershey are doing well, Hershey had knee surgery this spring, but is still a little terror as always.

I know I havent been around much (Facebook is so much easier :P )...but I'm still Lurking :)  so call this BDW's early christmas present from Delaware :)

When we adopted our rescue, a pointer mix, he was 4 or so

His name was Beretta and I hated that he was named after a gun (or a 70s show with Robert Blake). So, we renamed him Yadi, for the Cardinals' catcher, Yadier Molina. It took him no time to respond to his new name. As long as you call him for meals, it's all good!
