Choosing the right breeder

Hi Bullie Lovers!

I am looking to receive advice as to how to choose a trustworthy breeder. Any insight you can share would be great!

What are red flags that a breeder is not reputable? What are some things in the puppy that we should look out for? What kind of guarantees or warranties for health should be included and what should we be skeptical of?

Any resources, advice, recommendations, or information that would be useful or helpful for a new bulldog owner would be appreciated!

Looking forward to hearing from you :)

BulldogsWorld has a list, but...

Check this site for their breeder's list. f there isnt' anyone on the list near you, here are some things too look for;

A good breeder will offer a health guarantee. They will allow you to come in and view the puppies and the mom. Look out for very large operations or if the breeder sells a lot of dogs and several breeds. (Some good breeders do sell more than one breed but they aren't large operations.) The breeder will be happy to answer your quesitons. The breeder will also interview you to make sure you will be a good bulldog owner. Some require A/C and a fenced yard.

Hope this helps.

Bulldog Show

If the bulldogsworld list doesn't have anyone in your area then I would find out if there is a conformation show that is close to you.  We usually show in the mornings.  I would then go to the show and talk to those showing bulldogs.  They will know who has puppies.  You can then research and talk to those breeders to see which one best fits what you are looking for in your bulldog.  I know that of the bulldogs I've owned, all the breedeers showed their dogs and were trying to better the breed.  I would not trust someone that breeds to try to make money.
