Throwing up

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a long long time, here goes.....I recently rescued an 8 year old bulldog with a sensitive stomach.  He literally projectile vomits, I have never seen anything like it.  He was on prescription food from the vet, but he was throwing up 3 to 4x a day!  I've had him on boiled chicken for about a week and he hasn't thrown up, but now his wrinkles are a complete mess and his gas is unbelievable.  Any advice on what a good dry food to start him on?  We've tried Blu Buffalo senior, but the kibble is so tiny that he just spits them out.  I'll take advice on food and his poor wrinkles

thanks in advance

One thing that helps with gunk in the wrinkles is..

filtered water.  We use a Britta filter for our guys.  I would recommend a good quality grain free food, we use natural balance duck potato and they also have salmon.  There are a lot out there, it's just a matter of finding a food that agrees with him, poor guy.  You could try doing the chcken and add a little cooked rice and some cooked green beans, our vet told us this is nutritionally ok for dogs along with a vitamin daily.   I'm sure others will have some ideas also, do they have any idea why he vomits?  Does he have megaesophagus?

Natural Balance is a bigger kibble...

It is pretty uniform in size, no little round bits or small kibble mixed with other sizes.

Have you tried other meat for a possible raw diet? Look into it, it may be the best thing for him, since you said he has stopped vomiting on chicken...maybe he is allergic to chicken though wiphich may account for the wrinkle issue. I agree about filtered water, it's a good thought to maybe try that as well as a raw diet. You can add a little dollop of plain, fat free yogurt for the gas issues, I use it daily on two of my stinky girls:-).

Patti, when we're you a member here? Bulldog name? Welcome back:-)

home cooking

My bully was having issues with vomiting and loose stools. My vet gave me a recipe for chicken, rice, red kidney beans and a bunch of supplements. Labour intensive but the result is worth it. He was eventually diagnosed with IBD.

Has the possibility of an elongated palate  been addressed?
