Skin Scabs/Losing Hair

I have a male bulldog, 8-1/2  years old who has environmental allergies which was diagnosed when he was about a year old.  He receives an allergy injection once a month which has helped him tremendously.  I noticed last night that his back has what appears to be scabs all over it and when I touch the area his hair is falling out.  I looked carefully to see if he could have fleas but I didn't see any.  I plan on taking him to the vet today but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this with their bully and if so, what is it?

This could possibly be a staph infection.

Our bully had scabs and hair falling out on her legs, turns out it was staph.  Vet put her on an antibiotic and it cleared right up.  It did take awhile for the hair to grow back.

The vet is unable to get me

The vet is unable to get me in until tomorrow.  I have Cephalexon on-hand which I believe is an antiobiotic given to him previously.  Do you think I could start him on this now?  Thank you for your response.  After everything I've been reading I think you are right about it being a staph infection.

I know with Sadie the spots did not bother her.

I would probably wait to see the vet and confirm it is staph.

Definitely take him to the vet first, but I would recommend MicrocynAH spray for his skin irritations or sores. It's antimicrobial and helps to clear up skin irritations and prevent infection. I keep a bottle in my first aid kit. You can buy it direct from their website: www.microcynah.com
