question

If your dog has reaction to chicken will it happen with turkey too???????? cause when I feed Penelope her raw chicken her muzzle get red an that is a reaction to the chicken, right? so I started with the turkey an same thing? so it would be poultry all together then I take it? I'm new to the raw so I need a little insight an help I feed her the raw beef an no problem but she doesn't like the beef..... an every dry I've tried has disagreed with her. So what would be the best raw or dry to give her. preferable raw cause I have read such good thing about it.....

I would avoid poultry

But, there's lots of other meats you can try. Fish, lamb, venison, rabbit etc.

thank you

I feed Penelope sardines an mackerel an boiled eggs an she likes them. so I'm just trying to find a raw food that doesn't disagree with her. I'll have to give the rabbit a try an see how she does on that... Again thank you for the tip an I'll stay away from poultry all together.
I'll be back in a couple of days to report on how she's doing with the rabbit.

poultry

Are you feeding prepackaged raw like Nature's Variety? If so, then it may not be the poultry but some of the other ingredients. My boy was on that for several years then developed an allergy to Flax and barley! Go figure.

Cory's picture

yes it is pre package

Would that be the case even if she eats the beef with the same ingredients as the chicken an turkey with no reaction what so ever? that's why I thought it is the poultry. I feed Penelope Healthy Paws Raw Food. I'm going to give Rabbit a try a see how she does with that. I've heard of Nature's Variety quit a bit so I'm going to see if they carry it an I'll try that raw cause I trust the opinion of a lot of the lady's on here cause they have been doing this for along time an a lot of them either are breeders or show their bullies. So they would now the good from the bad with food an other thing one my ask.

No luck on the rabbit

I picked up the lamb to see if she likes it an the guy at the store was saying that he has heard the other people say their bullies love the lamb so I decided to give it a try I let her smell one of the paddy's an Penelope tried to grab it an take off so it seems she likes it........lol so hopefully she has no other problems. any how I'll keep going till I find the perfect food for my little bundle of joy....

Sadie has been eating Natures Variety for years. She'll be

13 next month.  We've used the Rabbit, Venison, and the Lamb.  Lamb works well for her,  chicken no so good.. Tear stains, itchy feet.  Good Luck with this food.

My dog is also allergic to chicken

It starts with a red face that turns into an itchy face, She CAN handle turkey, she gets turkey necks for bone.

I would stick with the beef unless she absolutely refuses to eat it. Then after a few weeks try pork or lamb.

Thank you Penelope has the same reaction.

Penelope gets the same thing with chicken she won't touch beef unless I hand feed her it, won't eat lamb not matter what I try. she likes rabbit, duck an boar. I've been feeding Penelope Tollden Farms pre packed raw, I switch it up every couple of meals so she can have a variety of foods. its ok to give her the different food right??? cause like I said I'm new to raw. any input or pointers would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Variety of protein is MANDATORY!

So you are doing great! Proteins have essential amino acids, and the only source that has them all is eggs. So to make sure your dog is getting as many as possible, give a variety of protein sorces.

And dont; forget you CAN slightly cook your dog's food to make it more appealing. Just NEVER EVER EVER feed cooked bone. If your dog likes her beef lightly seared, then don't feel like you shouldn't do it!

I started with pre-packaged raw, but it was too expensive and I didn't like the veggie stuff in it, so now we just feed her meat from the grocery store.

Thanks again

I'm glad I've been doing it right an I'll try the frying of the beef a little an see if she'll eat it then, she gets her eggs an sardines so it makes me feel good to know I've been giving her the right protein's an haven't been doing it all wrong. thanks a lot I really appreciate the help.
