Head Tremors

We have an 8 month old female EB, Clementine.  A few weeks back she started having head tremors.  We have tried all the common things listed online to do and taken her to the vet...now going Friday to a neurologist.  She has not gone into heat yet, nor have we had her spayed.

My question to those who have experience with the head tremors in their English Bulldog's, did your EB have more than one episode a day and did they have them every day?  The vet has said that her pupils barely dilate.  All blood work came back normal.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My girl had head tremors...

I changed her diet, she never had another one. She was on grain free already, I just changed brands. Lots of times you can resolve the tremors with a little peanut butter, karo syrup, etc. I suspect, but have no proof of, that their blood sugar gets low and they need it stabilized which is why peanut butter, etc, works to stop the head tremors quickly.

I suggest trying a diet change, see if that works. Not sure what you are currenty feeding, but I switched off of Taste of the Wild, onto Blue Buffalo limited ingredient Fish and Sweet Potato. I switched her feed ever couple of years, and changed the protein every few moths within the same brand. It all worked well for her for years.

Newman has had them also...

he never had more than one a day and they have pretty much stopped now that he's older (6 years old).  I would give him a tablespoon of Karo syrup and it would stop them right away.  We feed Fromm grain free foods.   It is common in our breed and as long as there is not loss of control of bodily functions or consiousness, it's not a seizure.

Thank you!

Great news, the neurologist says it is just idiopathic head tremors.  Not seizures.  AND, may be related to her trying to go into heat or a little anxiety when it comes to bed time.  (She does not want to go to bed - she'd rather hide under our bed.  We try to make it sweet and fun to get her out - never forcefully, but she just doesn't like the idea of going to bed.  Also, she will not sleep with us.  When she sleeps at night she does want to sleep in her crate.  But the getting there does give her anxiety.

We did switch from Royal Canin to Natural Balance and now she is not having tremors.  I'm just thrilled with the news and got really learned a lot from the neurologist.

Thank you all so much for your replys.  It meant the world to us!
