Curious of your spay costs

Hello All,

I have been on and off this board for the almost 10 years with my boy Tater, who lost his battle with congestive heart failure this past Feb, he was 9 1/2.  After a long wait we finally have another bully in the family!  Her name is Jet and she is 3, a black tri bulldog, she just had puppy's back in the beginning of Oct and they decided she wasn't a good mommy so wanted to find her a loving home...fast forward to us!  We love her and of course are going to have to get her spayed here shortly.  The vet prefers laproscropic which is find and only about $140 more.  My question with spay and bloodwork, what was your total cost for a good bulldog vet?  When we had Tater neutered we also had his soft palate surgery and nares widened so I really don't have much to go off of.  We are being quoted about $700 for the procedure, this includes the bloodwork before surgery which I'm not sure she really needs since she just had a c-section and was put under back in October.  Any insight you have would be appreicated!  I know cost is different in different states as well and I could take her to somewhere cheaper or a clinic but I know the risks for these things with a bulldog and will do what I have to to keep my baby safe.

Here is a pic of my pretty girl settling into her new home for your viewing pleasure

Spay Costs

It's been a long time (almost 10 years) since we had Maude spayed but I will look at my records and let you know.  Also, we're in St. Louis, so the cost is less than either coast or Chicago.

Congratulations on your new little family member!  She is just beautiful.

That sounds like a good price to me...

you can probably skip the blood work if it was good a few months ago.   Better to pay the money for a bulldog vet than to take chances at a low cost spay center.

Agree :-)

Totally agree, I love this vet, he's amazing so definitely worth the money regardless. I could never go to a shelter or low cost spay/neuter place for a bully and would never recoomend it to anyone.  I was just curious if others spent around the same.  I also have to get her soft palate fixed so that will be a couple hundred added to that.  The surgery was done in the past but vet suspects they didn't quite take enough so will be checking that out while she is under and getting it all taken care of!  When we had tater neutered, nares and soft palate surgery, we spent about $1800 I believe it was, I'd have to dig the paper but assumed most of that cost was from the other procedures.

RE:

I think it's about right, I guess it will make me feel better handing over the money when other people have done the same too haha   Only the best for my babies.  And thank you.
