Blue Wilderness Bayou Blend

After hours on end of research here I'm becoming of the opinion that I will need to switch our new baby away from the Blue Wilderness Bayou Blend that her prior owner was feeding her.  He said she just loves it - it's primary ingredients are alligator and catfish.  I don't mind it being gluten free on top of grain free but it seems, from the info here, that 30% protein might be a bit much for this breed?  She weighs 46lbs and I'm not sure of her height yet until the get home tomorrow.

I will, of course, keep her on it until she gets settled into our home for a few weeks because her being rehomed is overwhelming enough, so I don't want to add runny stools too.  And I do understand to slowly transition her to a new food just as I would my current pets.

Blue Buffalo has several very good feeds you could switch to.

I agree, 30 % seems high. I stick to 25 or lower in protein for my dogs.

Blue Buffalo has a few really good choices you could switch to, staying within the same brand she is doing so well on would be ideal for you. My guys all love Blue Buffalo, but since I seldom go to a store it is sold in, I don't buy it right now.

Thank You!

I will look into the Blue Buffalo varieties with the same quality but 25% or lower protein with fish in it as well.   I generally use a company called Chewy, and have it shipped in, as they have more options than the small town we live in.

dogfoodadviser.com

has some very interesting information about protien in good dog foods.

I trust this site, and always go to it for accurate info on dog food.

Hope it helps you too.
