Mucous in stool, now accident in house with diarrhea!

Winnie has been having mucous in her stool on and off the past week. The vet told me to watch it and if it doesnt resolve we need to bring in a stool sample.
We changed her food a couple weeks ago and I am thinking this may be the problem. Its Natural Balance Bison. She was on the venison.
Today my fiance came home to poop all over the house. firm stool on the carpet upstairs and diarrhea all over the downstairs. She had only been at home alone for 4 hours and obviously couldnt hold it. She did this once last week as well.
Do you guys think this is a bout of Colitis or food allergy? Should I put her on a bland diet?
Any suggestions? I left a message with the vet as well?
Other than the accidents in the house she has been acting fine. We just went through all that a couple weeks ago with her eating some of a blanket and she was on a bland diet to rest her gut and did fine.
We are leaving to get married in two weeks and have a really nice girl coming to stay with Winnie and I really need this to be cleared up before we leave!

Glad it worked out for you, Joe!

I'm taking a tuffy stool sample tomorrow and am almost hoping it's some parasite so I can get to the bottom of all this...

Had same issue

It ended up being Giardia or however you spell it.
1st step ...Stool sample and then get some meds.

Rocco stopped that almost immediately after getting the medication.

go with the stool sample....

since you just have to run over with the sample and not bring the dog....i would just get that sample over......a cup of brown rice will help firm up those stools...it cant always be the food...especially becasue of the mucos....
so get the poop to the vet and start with a cup of brown rice (not the min kind) and add the rice in the reg food,,,,
