Layla's Opthal visit

Ok, so she had her long awaited opthal recheck yesterday and here is what he thinks is going on ( she still squints after months of being on Optimunne and Genteal )

Her tear production is now NORMAL !
There are NO eyelashes rubbing her eye .
There is absolutely nothing wrong with her eye ( after a very extensive exam with all special opthal equipment ) that he can see .

conclusion : he think she may be "allergic" to something in the Optimunne ( or possibly the genteal artificial tears ) . Since the Optimunne has worked .... he wants to stick with cyclosporin . So she switched drops to pure 2% cyclosporin in a oil base . Its a drop . He also gave her BNP which is the triple antibiotic with cortisone ointment for the inflammation . I think I will pick up the Refresh drops ......but hate to change too many things at once .

After he did the exam her eye was wide open ..... because she had numbing drops in them !

I hate seeing her squint . It obviously bothers her . Please pray that these new meds are the answer !!

on a side note...

My girl scratched the side of her head and eye up because of the cyclosporine (sp)... We couldnt' use it all. We had to stick with the genteal lubricant.

Cyclosporine drops

We used these years ago on an older dog with chronic dry-eye and it worked out well.
At that time the Vet was out of the Optimune ointment and it was on backorder, so he sent me to a Compounding Pharmacy with a script for the drops to be made up using Olive Oil. A lot cheaper that way too.
