hoe to tell if my bully is retaining water

I have a 4 yr old bully that is due on the 31st and her front ankles look bigger than the other, How do I tell if she is retaining water. She is on bottled water and 2 cranberry tablets daily. Should i do some thing else. I have not been giving her any cottage cheese just hard boiled egg and moist puppy chow mixed with her dry. Any suggestions.

if she is retaining water i would get....

to the vet....it could be a kidney problem....i would not try any home remendies at this time....

Re: Common test for hydration is to pinch the skin

i pinched and it seems fine. I think I am just panicking thank you for the advice.

Check her boobs to see...

if they're looking shiny. If they are then she could be retaining water.

Good luck,
Sue

Common test for hydration is to pinch the skin

in a few places where there isn't much fat, such as one the forehead or on the leg (do couple locations) and the "pinched or raised skin" should "melt" back into position within 3 seconds. (That's 3 seconds, not 3/10th of one second). If you cannot get any reasonable loose skin to pinch, or if it doesn't slide back into position, you may have a problem with water...either too much or too little.
