Just leave it be. I break a toe every other month kicking dog toys or tripping over things binky and the spawn leave on the floor. LOL

I've taped them,but usually I just leave them be. There is nothing a hospital or doctor can do for you. I hope it heals quickly-those little toes hurt like the devil.

I just broke my little toe on the heating register on the floor near our bed all of a half hour ago . And I broke the same toe the same way this time last year! UGH! Yes, I'm VERY familiar with the long stream of obscenities that come flying out. From experience from last year, I keep it elevated, take Tylenol, and put a bag of frozen peas on it (it won't freeze burn you and it molds around the foot well). You will be sticking to flip flops for a bit. Then you will transition to sneakers. And then you can return to shoes.

BTW, your bully will step on that toe at least 5 times a day, maybe 6. You have been warned

I didn't think there was much they could do for a toe either when I broke my big toe. It was new years eve, you know how that goes...lol..My foot swelled so bad that my foot was overflowing my shoe, I wanted to keep drinking not go to the hospital, so I stayed and drank. Now I think I have arthritis in it, whenever it rains or is going to rain my toe throbs. I hope yours doesn't end up like this, it hurts. But it just matches the arthritis in my back, so what can I do..lol.

I broke my little toe, but I did not go to the dr for several months. Turns out I had splinters of bone that was still causing pain. He made a tiny incision and took them out. No pain now.

...I think all you can do is tape it,ice it, an elevate it. OUCH!

I think I'll just let it go, if there really isn't anything they can do about it. Going to the doc tomorrow would really throw a monkey wrench into my day! LOL

Ya know, I've done it before when it probably has broken , usually the second smallest one, lol But it is such a lovely hue of scarlet right now, lol, just thought I'd ask!

on my right foot when i wasn't paying attention where i was walking and kicked a dumbell left on the floor. i never went to a doctor about it, but my best friend is a nurse practicioner and she taped it. very red, very swollen, black and blue, painful, etc.
i would go to a doctor christie. i say this because this happened to me about 8 years ago and i still have pain in that toe from time to time. probably arthritis or something settled in it. anyway, better to be safe than sorry.

I've always been of the same mind as you - don't do anything or tape to another toe if it really, really hurts. I don't think it can get infected unless you have some sort of an open wound but I'm sure there are some more medically minded folks out there who can give you better advice.

Just helps it heals quickly b/c I know from experience that those little toes can hurt like a B****!

didn't even x-ray it because he said they don't do anything for it anyway. So it was a big waste of time. It sure hurt though, feel better.

Yup, I wore sandals today, but they are good ones with a nice support to them. Thanks! Ouch, I can't imagine breaking a big toe! Yeow!

tried to kick my brother and hit the footboard...I hit the floor and it took my breath! I still remember the pain vividly 35 yrs later......it was broke-it was my big toe and it took months to heal and I still have pain in it when it is very cold or raining.....
Just taped mine to keep it still and to pad it from bumps and such. Wearing a shoe with socks was hard unless oversized.....
