We did this the 1st year with our Lab - we had to tire her out really good, so she was mellow with Santa :-) it worked well :) (The local mall allows pets 2 evenings for pictures, and he is a better lookin santa then PetCo/PetSmart's
There seems to be alot of posed family shots here on the board, I'm sure others will have good advice :)

YUP tired, and slightly hungry for treats --but then again when are they NOT hungry for treats? We also find that giving Kippah a 15 minute rest inbetween heavy activity and picture posing lets her gain her composure and come off her "im gunna knock over everything in site' high

When I was a kid, we took the bulldogs (two of them) into our local photographer for a formal set of pictures. The week before, the guy had taken photos of a family with a group of nasty, biting little dogs. When our bulldogs, 65 and 75 lb. walked in, they were apprehensive, but of course the bulldogs couldn't have been sweeter. The worst problem they had was trying to post them on the narrow bench with me in between. The bench wsas meant for people but the bulldog's butts kept falling off the back and the assistant kept having to go behind and push thier butts back on the bench so they would fall off. They got great photos, too.

I scheduled ours first thing in the morning when Hazel is more mellow - we were lucky enough to be the only ones there at the time so she wasn't too distracted. The problem I had was getting one on her own. She kept trying to get up and follow me. That and we did them on the floor since they didn't have a seat that she would fit on. But they turned out pretty good.

LOL! I think if they know sit and stay, then you have the battle half won. Getting them all to look at the camera at the same time looking cute is wher you need some prayers and a very patient photographer.
Get them TIRED out :)

Can we PLEASE see one of those pics?!
Sounds awesome!
That message was for Stephanie
:)
When you say "Portrait", do you mean sitting still while being
PAINTED? Ooooh, that does NOT sound easy! But, maybe after LOTS of playing, he'd be so tuckered, he'd
be willing to stay still a while? If you mean photos, we just had a family photo session, and Meaty
and Sophie were cooperative because I'd taken them to the park and let them run beforehand. I brought
treats along, in case we needed them for cooperation in the photos, but we didn't even need them! :-)
Our sweet Archimedes "MEATY" Bones (or as we say...boneSHHH!) ---born 11/28/08---- our first bullllyyyy!!!
And SOPHIE Bubbles *Rapscallion* (LOL!) ---born 4/3/11----our second bulllllyyyy!!!!
NOT painted lol
that would be a nightmare =P
