Cherry Eye?

Good morning. I am new to the forum. I have two wonderful English Bulldogs. I have a question this morning. I noticed last night that my elder bulldog has some tissue pushing out from under his eye. I am familiar with Cherry Eye, but this is underneath the eye instead of in the corner. Also, is it possible for it to Adminse within such a short period of time? Isn't it something that they are born with? Anyway, just seeking some advise. Thanks.

Eye

Strangely enough his eye cleared up now. It must be allergies, thank goodness.

Something you might want to try

My vet suggested that I buy some Visine allergy eye drops when I mentioned Stella's eyes were redder than usual. I put only one drop twice a day and it seems to be helping, at least with the redness. I will still ask her about the swelling but I think the drops are helping.

Ahh!

You know I really think this is it, because it isn't his tear gland or even close to the inner corner of the eye. It is actually more toward the outer corner underneath. I think it might be allergies, actually a couple of weeks ago his other eye was swollen on the top and I thought maybe he just got stung by something, but now with this incident I think that might be it. I am hoping that is all it is, because I would hate to put him through surgery Please let me know what you find out. Thank you so much.

Cherry eye?

Sounds to me like you might be talking about his "second eyelid", a protective membrane underneath the eyelid. Stella's got swollen last year when she had an eye ulcer, I think to protect the eyeball. That said, hers is a little swollen these days too and I'm wondering whether it has something to do with allergies at this time of year.

I'm going to see my vet tomorrow or Wednesday for her annual shots and I'm going to ask her at the same time. Remind me of your question and I'll let you know what she said.

He had surgery for removal

Someone more experienced than me will have to explain the whys and wherefores. I know some have said you can push it back in but it was pretty bad in the one case I saw and surgery was necessary.

Cherry Eye Cont.

Really? Because I thought it had to do with the tear gland which is in the inner corner of the eye? What did you do? Did you have it diagnosed? Thanks for your response.
