Went to my first Bulldog Rescue Event yesterday.....

Oh my goodnesshhhh.......there were about 6 English and 1 Frenchie that needed homes for different reasons.  Of course, I wanted to take EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM home!!!!!!   I also knew it would be heartbreaking to hear their stories, so I did NOT ask.....Unfortunately, I overheard some of the rescue people explaining what happened to one of the sweet babies, and the tears almost started.......ANyhoo, I am trying to talk hubby into at LEAST fostering, but hopefull ADOPTING a bully who needs a home!

There was one SWEEEEEET girl there who already got adopted, and I fell absolutely in LOVE with her right away!!!  She looked kinda like SHERMAN (where is that CUTE boy anyway????)   She kept licking my hand through the crate and I was just melting from her sweet eyes!   She was only two and had congestive heart failure.....(I guess she was an owner surrender???)....anyway, made me even MORE thankful that Meaty and Sophie are sooo healthy!   One of Meaty's wittle brothers from his litter ended up having MAJOR heart issues, but thankfully, he is healthy now once the owners found the right specialist......

Hugged my babies even MORE last night!!!!!!!  :-)

**to clarify---*IF* we end up fostering/ adopting, I would

of COURSE **NEED** (and want!) to know the history of the sweet bully, no matter how sad....I just wanted to clarify that---I didn't want to hear the sad stories yesterday only because I was just visiting and ooohing and awww---ing.  Obviously to foster/adopt, we'll have to know their history and we'll do the best we  can to get 'em healthy (if possible), and give 'em lots and LOTS of love  :-)

We have fostered lots of dogs

from the shelter and rescue. Its very rewarding, kinda sad when its time to let them go to their new home. Rescues need all kinds of help, taking dogs to vet appointments, helping at fund raising, transport etc., and of course fostering until adoption. I think you would be a real asset to rescue.

Good luck

One question.....

When someone takes a rescue dog does the rescue organization pay for the medical bills for the dog? I know rescue dogs can have big complicated medical issues.
Anyone know??? I don't know that much about how rescue works.

Yes

rescues pay for vet expenses.

oh wow, I did NOT know that! I assumed the foster/adoptive

parents took on that responsibility.  That's an even GREATER incentive for people to adopt/foster!!! :-)   I REALLLLY need to get the word out and help this organization as much as I can !!!!!

They cover the expenses for the fosters

but once the dog is adopted, expenses are the responsibility of the owners. I am sure that different rescues/shelters have different programs, so it is a good question to ask before fostering.

Thank you, Lynn. I'd like to start with helping them with

various things, since we can't foster/ adopt *yet*....hee hee, just gotta keep working on the hubby...LOL!  :-)  OMG, I still wish I could've brought this one sweeet girl home---ten years old, and I think she was probably over-bred?  Her tummy was hanging sooo much, it was very sad :-(   I assume their tummies only get THAT saggy from too many pregnancies?  Anyway, I can't stop thinking about her, and with her being TEN already, oh wow, I just don't know how I could handle her dying  :-(
