Thank you everyone..........

For all the times I had to add a name to that rainbow, my  heart was broken for their owner. And here I sit now in that same situation.  I miss my boy so much, the house is very quiet and empty and everywhere I turn I think I see or hear him.

I was fortunate to have 11 and 1/2 years with him. Last year he had surgery to remove a tumor from his anal gland, a cancer that is extremely rare in bulldogs.  He got through the surgery just fine but reality hit me that he was on borrowed time.  His biopy report was not good, they had estimated the cancer to return within 6-9 months.  We had opted for chemotherapy medication as to radiation or IV chemo.  He took his medication just fine never a side effect. We monitored him closely at the vet.

Thursday he vomitted and became lethargic, he just didin't want to move & had no interest in food but was drnking a lot of water. We took him out and when he came back in was sick again and basicaly collapsed. We brought hin to the ER vet but when he walked through the door he laid down again.  We spoke with the vet and decided to leave him there overnight to run blood, xrays, etc.  They wheeled him in for us to say goodnight, he lifted his head and wagged his tail and I kissed him over and over and said "see you tomorrow".  The vet called about 2 hours later and said blood, xrays, all looked good, they'd have the oncologist see him in the morning and once he ate he'd be able to come home.

About 3 hours later the vet called back, he had gone into cardiac arrest.  20 minutes later he was gone, they couldn't revive him.  When his heart stopped, ours broke in two.

Zimmer taught me so many things in life, love, patience, responsibility and now courage.  Our lives revolved around him and he gave us so much joy and laughter.  He touched many lives near and far in ways I never dreamed possible.  Rest in peace my sweet boy.......if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

I couldn't stay away

I came back on board, just today. It's been three months since Matilda went peacefully to Rainbow Bridge. Today, I grieve for another bulldog family. I loved the name Zimmer and I have enjoyed pictures of Zimmer through out the years on this wonderful world, the Bulldogs World.

So Sorry

So sorry for your loss.   My wife and I suffered something very similar in June when we bid farewell to our Xavier.  He was King of our house for almost twelve great years.  The memories of the good times have to out weigh our sorry and he will always be alive in our memories.  Please accept our sincere condolences.
