old British bulldog 11 week puppy food

Hi all!

I'm  new to this site, so here I go I just brought home my male old english bulldog pup and am unsure about its diet.

I have been trying to research but cannot find anything yet related to my pups food and am cautious about feeding this type of kebble to my pup.

The breeder has been feeding the pup raw meat with what looks like greyhound kebble, is this alright for my pup to grow into a healthy lean dog? The link below is the exact kebble which they were using:

I have attached an image of Rocky below.

Congratulations!

He's adorable!  The Greyhound food has wheat in it among other things and in my opinion is not a good food for a bulldog since they are prone to allergies.  I would look for a grain free limited ingredient food such as Zignature, Fromm, Natural Balance.  I don't know what's available to you in the UK.  We look for a food with no grains (wheat, rice, etc) and a protein content of 25% or less to prevent rapid bone growth.  You can do raw food, but it's very complicated to get the right combinations.  We feed one of our a frozen raw food that just needs to be thawed and she does well on that (Tucker's).  At 11 weeks he needs food three times a day if I remember correctly.

Keep the protein content the same...

25% or lower.  High protein diets are good for dogs that have a lot of energy and are physically active.  Bulldogs are usually more laid back and don't need the extra protein.  Our guys go for a long walk every day and spend the rest of their time reclining on the couch : )

Hello and Welcome !!!! Rocky is SO adora-bull !!! I would

also recommend a FISH-based, grain-free kibble for your sweet Rocky :-)   We've been going to an excellent, bulldog

specialist vet since our Archimedes (Meaty) was a pupp.  He USED to have horrific ear infections and interdigital cysts.

I'm NOT saying it was necessarily the kibble; however, our vet told us to start him on FISH-BASED, grain-free and it

really helped!  Vet also emphasized NO beef, NO poultry for bulldogs.  Again----I'm not saying Rocky or other bulldogs

can't have it; it's just what our one vet said :-)  ...

...

Do you have a wonder-bull vet that has LOTS of experience with bulldogs?  That is ALWAYS a plus, since our babies have

some quirky (LOL), specific needs.   However, even though I say that, we also take them to another vet that isn't  a

"bulldog specialist" like the other one; and he is also excellent and totally understands the special needs of bulldogs.

You probably knew all of this already---but I (and everybully else here on this friendly board!!) just like to be helpful.

We have all heard sad stories of vets who were NOT familiar with bulldogs and their unique anatomy (thinner trachea,

the challenges of a brachycephalic (flat) face, etc....

....

It's SO nice to have you, I hope you keep posting AND we all LOVE LOVE LOVE photos! :-)   I have been on this

wonder-bull site for almost 8 years, and---WOW!  I have learned SO, SO much from my fellow bulldog lovers!!!

Don't be afraid to ask away----somebully will ALWAYS have ideas and tips  for you, and I have also gotten a lot

of sweet emotional support, too  (for example, whenever we're worried about our babies having surgery, or

when our sweet foster-bulldog died after only being with us seven days, etc....)     Sorry if this was too much of

a NOVEL, sometimes I get carried away and keeeeep typing and typing............LOL!!!  :-)

Thanks for your advice, there in not many bulldogs in Northern Ireland but they seem to be getting more popular, so hopefully if anything does go wrong there will be someone who is familiar with the breed!rocky sleeping
