Dog food ... I know, I know ..

We just brought home on new bully and she has been eating Royal Canine.  We are seriously thinking of switching her to Canadae - All Stages.  We have been using Canadae on our other dog (mix-breed rescue) for some time and love what it is doing for her.  Many years ago we used Royal Canine on our previous bulldog and had lots of tear stains, gas, and a bad coat.  At the time we switched her to another food and the issues left.  I can't remember what we used, but - any thoughts on Canadae?

Thanks in advance!

The only thing I would watch for is protein level..

I try to stick with 25% or less. Canadae is a good food from what I've heard, but haven't tried it on my guys.

I feed Earthborn Holistic. No problems on it at all, and their coats are very soft. Sophie doesn't have tear stains or itchies anywhere.

Thank you.

Thank you for your response.

Protein

Why 25% or less on protein?  I've not heard that before.

Hi. Sorry I missed this question!

Here is a good site that helps explain the protein level and need. I stay within the 15 - 30% level, my Sophia just gets fat on higher amounts of protein. Bulldogs are notoriously not real active, therefore they do not need higher level of proteins to keep them in shape. I would only want use higher protein feed for my very active dogs, but even with the very active ones I have right now (working ranch dogs), I still only feed a 25% protein feed and they do great on it..
