Bulldog show people DONT support bulldog rescue????

I wasn't sure how to word this correctly, but what I'm talking about is something a person in our

Bulldog rescue group said.....and she would know, because she's been in both worlds for a long time.

I know NOTHING about the "showing" world, so I am VERY curious!  She said that the Bulldog Club(s)

(at least in OUR area!) have not been known to suppor Bulldog RESCUE  in the past... (WHAT??!!!!)

BUT-----they are starting to now!!!  I was happy to hear this, of COURSE!!!  But my question remains---

WHY would people who put SO much effort into showing bulldogs not be supportive of rescue??? I also

asked this question on our rescue page, but never got an answer, which is unusual....I have to assume

those "in the know" didn't want to offend / stereotype anyone, OR, it's honestly possible no one ever

saw my question.....I'll be curious to hear what y'all know about this....thanks!  :-)

Definitely NOT true in the Northeast & many parts

Here in NJ & NY, we have many breeders & show people who are extremely supportive of rescue. I don't know what area you are in, but across the country many of the breed clubs have been very supportive of rescue, and the show people also. And, at Bulldog Nationals, each year at the close of the show there is a rescue parade after the show.

It turned out to be a wonderrr-bull event !!!!

Between the professional bulldog showings, (WOW, sooo much cutness!!!  SO well trained!!!  What's THAT like to have

your furbaby actually FOLLOW your commands .??? LOL!!!)   there was our cute Rescue Parade----it was lovely; the only

thing was many of our current Foster parent(s) and/or Alumni who've adopted (and their furbabies)  didn't show up .....Of course

I understand people are busy on Saturdays, and "life happens", but still----the turnout was honestly just SAD----but oh well....

.....

Aside from the cuteness of the rescue parade, we ended up with MANY generous donors----so that was GREAT!!! :-)  Unfortunately,

the abused/ neglected bulldogs keep arriving at regular intervals, and our president just announced they will do everythinggggg

they can not to have to turn any away----But we just do NOT have the amount of foster parents we need right now (As I'm sure

is a problem with EVERY rescue group for ALL kinds of animals !!!!)  .......Just this weekend, they did an intake of TWO

emergent cases......and our wonderbull president and our wonderbull treasurer each took one into their homes---which are already

to capacity!!!  Honestly, these two are the BEST------I think each of them has at LEAST 4 Fosters in their homes right now, and

a few are quite sick----and that doesn't count their personal furbabies!!!!  WOW!!! ....

......

Anyway, it was just wonderbull to hear that many of the show peeps donated generously, and they also got a kick out

of seeing our rescue babies!!!!  :-)

our show community IS the rescue community

A the local bulldog doctor is the pro Bono rescue doctor. He makes enough off us owners to help out the rescues for free.
