ANTS!!

The house became overrun by them.  They're in the hampers, the couches, Fatboy's bed, in the closets; it's a nightmare!  We may have to bomb the house.  Has anyone dealt with this before?  We had a real bad ant problem last year but were able to keep them in check with that gel ant bait.  The advantage we had was the ants were isolated in areas where the Fats couldn't get to.  But this time it's a whole different ball game.  Is it safe to bomb the house with Fatboy running around afterwards??

It's not our house either, so I don't know how he landlord will want to treat the property.  Will treating he outside as well help?

I hate ants!!!

I would plan on being gone overnight if you do a bug bomb. Fatboy may need to be kept away until all the residue and dead bugs can be cleaned up. Not sure, but I wouldn't take the chance of him licking up a dead bug with the chemicals on it...

Best wishes! Ants are the worst:-(

When is your Lease up?

I remember talking to a lady who brought a house and ants and spider were ever where. she Bomb and Bomb. Had people come out  they look under the house and said it was the worst they had ever see. She live around a lot of trees. (No this is not a movie)  you have to start with under your house and outside of your house. Bombs that we buy at Home depot won't get it. You will have to have someone who knows what they are doing to treat the problem. They will live in your clothes and made small holes just like Moth will. only way she was able to handle this was to start under the house in the Attic and outside around the house. Then had them come into the house and spray. A bomb goes off on everything. Fatboy does not need that. but you can control these ants with help. Please don';t listen to Home depot or Lowe's  you don't want to your clothes eaten up either. It's cheaper if someone comes in to help you. and yes your Land lord should pay for it. or at least half. if not just think about the money you will save by not buying New clothes. I work at a Dryclearner all my life and I have see where Ants or Moth has just taken out clothes that cost a ton of money. and you don't want to see them on your family either. outside help is the best you can do. Ask your Landlord if he or she can help if not. when the lease is up start to look for another place with a better Landlord.

Ants and fleas are a southern problem.

There are ants here but they they don't seem to be a problem inside homes. I've never seen a problem with ants , feas, roaches or ternites up in the northland. My fear is that, with climate change, we'll start to see these pests up here. I don't know what to say or how to advise you except to say, good luck/.

Our lease has been up for a year now. The landlord gave us her

contact for the exterminator. To our surprise the exterminator told us they could spray the outside (where the colonies live) but were hesitant to spray the inside due to Fatboy. Instead they suggested we spray windex in the problem areas. The ammonia smell will make the ants stay away. It really does work! I haven't seen any ants for the past week.

What I'm really surprised about is the exterminating company telling us to use windex instead of using their services for the inside. I always imagined any company is more willing to make a quick buck vs. having us do it ourselves. I do believe a positive yelp review for this company is in order here :)
