What kind of Benadryl? Liquid? Children's? Fruit flavored?

Hi, for one reason kibbys eyes are getting all red and droopy again.. I think she is getting immune to her claritin?  I want to try some Benadryl before I take her to the vet and spend another 10000$! She had this problem before and the vet told me it was allergies so I am hoping this will work. I know it's 1 lb per mg , right? Is that twice a day? Kibby is about 43lbs now. I heard liquid is faster, but the oly liquid I see is for kids w/ fruit flavor.. Is this ok? Or are liquid gel pills ok? Generic ok? Or should I try Zyrtec so she doesn't get drowsy... I m looking for faster relief though... She keeps trying to rub her eyes. I do have some neo poly bac too, ok to give? Thanks!

I give Sophie one 25mg tablet as needed.

I give regular pill form Benadryl. Sophia weighs about 46 lbs....

I gave her 1.5 pills at 4:30 am

One of her eyes seems better now.. The other is still yucky, like he bottom lid, pink, is stuck halfway closing her eye... Do I have to wait until 4:30pm to give some more...?

A funky eye could be...

A little infection. Ask your vet about maybe giving a little strip of polybac in the eye that is goofy. Might help that eye. You can give another dose of Benadryl at 12 hour increments, but I might just give one tablet, not one and half.

Vet visit

Has she been to the vet to have that eye checked?  I couldn't be self medicating without knowing what you are medicating for.  I would be consulting a vet, especially with what you are describing with her inner eye lid.  It could be infected. Neo Poly Bac is fine as long as it doesn't have any steriods in it.

I always get the instant dissolve tablets

I keep them on hand in case Audrey gets stung. The one time she had an emergency, her face/throat swelled up so FAST I got the instant dissolve because I figure this way even if she can't swallow she'll still get the meds. Plus it is SO HARD to get this dog to swallow a pill! I know I can at least get it onto her tongue. :-)

Thank u all, u were right!

I took Kibby to the vet that day and they did the whole ultra violet light eye stain thingy and it turns out she has an eye ulcer! Drops 3 times a day, then ointment too, not the neo poly bac! At the same time, she was having an allergic reaction to something, and that's maybe how she scratched her eye? So the benedryl, pink tab twice a dy, 1.5 pills. Gosh, my poor bully is getting old... 8.5 yrs... On a different note, from her last visit, where she was pooping blood after she ate part of her tennis kong... They also saw a lot of arrthritus on her spine and hips.. It's funny because I actually thought he has been more active these lat few months. She also has been slowly losing weight these past few months.. Down to 46.2 from 50 lbs...vet says its probably age related too since her blood work was fine just a few weeks ago.

My poor baby, not a baby anymore... I hate to think about the future... I always tell my husband that when Kibby goes, I am going with her ! :(
