Throwing up

I woke up to Brewer throwing up in my bed this morning. The throw up was all liquid and a dark yellow (I am guessing all stomach juices). That was at 630am. Just now at 1030 he threw up again on the kitchen floor and it was a little darker yellow with a hint of brown or red and two "drops" of blood. I never saw him get into anything and otherwise is acting normal. Any suggestions? The vet is closed so I have to wait until monday to call them.

He did not eat breakfast yet

He did not eat breakfast yet but that is not abnormal. He normally eats it around our lunch time.So the last time he ate was around 7 last night.

Acid reflux

It's possible that this could simply be acid reflux. Bulldogs do better if they're fed several times a day. See if yours will eat a little something and include a little snack before bedtime. If the problem persists, then a vet visit might be indicated.

I completely agree....

I feed mine at 12 hour intervals consistantly. I have two that have acid reflux otherwise and will throw up yellow bile. I give a little snack during the day, in case I am late coming in from horses and don't hit the 12 hour mark right on time.

Basically you are going too long between dinner and breakfast, and not enough time between breakfast and dinner!

I believe you should feed him

more often.

When Kofi does that it's what I call hunger pukes. Try feeding him small amounts at closer intervals. From 7P:M to 12 P:M is a long time to go between meals, and especially for puppies.

Hope this helps.

kibby has that too...

i feed her 4x times a day! yes, 4 times! about half cup dry w/little bit wet, little more at lunch and dinner, less for breakfast, late night snack!... around 6, 12, 6, 12! my husband and I are lucky that our work schedules work out for this!

i can sometimes skip the late night meal.. but often she will puke the yellow bile if i do, so i rather just keep her tummy full.

just in case we are wrong.. kinda worried about the blood? ... or if she/he starts acting not normal along with the puking.. its holiday weekend , so find an emergency place ready ... just in case... good luck!

Mr.Higgins does it too

He began vomiting every morning. I began feeding him 3x a day and it mostly stopped. Now he does it very occasionally. I have to make sure I feed him breakfast immediately when he wakes up.. Sometimes if we sleep in I take kibble with me outside when he goes potty. Otherwise he will refuse his breakfast and I know he will vomit. It is always on my one area rug so I had to invest in a carpet shampoo machine.

I told my vet bulldogs are vomiters and he just laughed. I know his is just reflux. My last bully was diagnosed with megaesophagus as a pup by a vet who I ended up leaving. It turned out he had palate issues and the vomiting stopped when his airway was done. That is an example of a vet who doesn`t have a clue about bulldogs. I took his xrays to the vet college here and they said his g/i tract was perfectly normal.

If Mr. Higgins is coughing for whatever reason he sometimes coughs up food. I simply relate that to food staying in the stomach for long periods of time and do not worry. Not sure if all bullies cough up food. Does anyone else`s?

Sorry, I tend to go on when I talk about bullies :)

Deborah and sweet Mr. Higgins

We free feed him so food is

We free feed him so food is available at all times with him. He eats when he wants to. Sometimes its 4 times a day sometimes its once a day. He doesn't ever puke any other time. Since my post he has not puked and has ate normally and acts normal and his stools are normal. So I am just going to see if it happens again but at this point hes normal. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I really appreciate it.

wow, the power of suggestion....

Now my Mr. Higgins has been vomiting his last 3 meals. Usually I do not worry, but I did call my vet. He wants him off all food for another 24 hours then try again. He is kind of lethargic as well. Stools are normal and he is drinking pedialyte willingly thank goodness. Hopefully tomorrow his appetite is back and this vomiting stops. Funny (not) how he does it on the area rug and never the bare floor  :(

I have to watch my Sophia......

She does that some times.  She is not free fed as I do RAW.  I will feed her and them wait about 30 minutes and let her out to potty.  Sometimes she will upchuck some, then again she may not.  Shes a little excitable at times.
