Mega esophagus possible

Help!!!' I have a puppy that is 6weeks. He is breaking my heart.. I have taken him to the vet atleast 15 times already .. I'm so worries about him.. He is the runt of the liter. I think he may have megaesophagus. I have been bottle feeding him which he would always aspirate after eating and burping. He has been on mush for about a week now, does better with that versus liquid. He tried a couple times to drink water from his mommies water and Ofcourse aspirates... His symptoms .... He doesn't aspirate while eating or drinking the bottle however a little bit after his meals he starts shaking his head andKinda walks in circles kinda like gasping for air then sneezes fluid out his nose. Sometimes looks like spoiled mild or bile very rarely is it his mush... While he is doing this he tries to hold his head up high.. He does this through out the day weather or not after eating... I have taken him to the vet and the bet says pharynx is good pallet good...he weight almost 3lbs.. His bowels n urine is good appetite good gaining weight. The vet says he is to small for a barrium ... Please any advice , thoughts, suggestions....has anyone experience this could my assumptions be correct or even mayb acid reflex... Please ;(

Trach xray

Has the vet recommened doing a trach xray to see if there is a narrowing of the trach.  They do these without any sedation.   Any fluid in the lungs?  I might want to put this puppy on some antibiotics just in case of pneumonia.  I also would consult your mentor (breeder) or network for another vet opinion.

He has a appointment this

He has a appointment this week for that at ucdavis.. He has been on antibiotics but so far has not got fluid in his lungs..some people are suggesting me to put him down but I don't want to until I find out the proper diagnoses... If its something that can be fixed i feel I need to do whatnu can for him ... Thank you for ur comment

UC Davis

He'll be in good hands there.  Best of luck to your puppy.  I hope they can figure out something to help him live a long life.

we got this diagnosis in error

My first bully Arthur (RIP mom`s boy) vomited constantly from when he was a young pup. At around 4 months the vet did a barium swallow. It apparently showed megaesophagus. I was horrified as was his breeder. He was put on a motility medication to push his food past the stomach more quickly. We had to hold him upright like a baby so he would not vomit after eating and drinking. The vet never increased the dose of the med as he grew and I got suspicious. I am a nurse. I lost trust in this vet, and the vomiting continued. I changed vets when he was 14 months to the one I have now to this day. I learned my lesson the hard way that you need a good bully experienced vet.

IT WAS A MISDIAGNOSIS !!!  My new vet sent his films to the vet college and they said his GI tract was perfectly normal!  Arthur had an elongated palate and had surgery shortly after. The vomiting stopped.

Best of luck with your bully,

Deborah  (Mr. Higgins too)

palate

I wonder how the vet determined the pup`s palate was o.k.

Puppy is 6 weeks

in a puppy that young you can see back into the throat much easier then when they get older.  Yes it could be palate but usually you see palate issues much older, not at 6 weeks.

All the above needs to be checked.

thank you!!it definately is

thank you!!it definately is not his palate .. his appt is dec 3rd, that is the soonest they could fit him in, i might get a little impatient and take him thru the ucdavis er for faster care...again his palate is fine. i have been breeding for 9 years..im very well aware of conditions the bulldogs come across.my pup has better days than others, and i must say the past few days he hasnt been regurgitating as much due to the fact that i have been feeding him fequently and small portions and liquids are thickened which i will continue to do so until we figure out what is going on with my booger boy.. it is either "megaesophagus" or posible "niatal hernia"..as of now i am following all the precautions of the megaesophagus to be on the safe side....thank you all for ur kind and supportive  thoughts and suggestions... i appreciate it...
