hot spot yuck

Hello all, nice to see so many members posting! It's been a while, and I hope to reconnect with old friends and meet some new ones!

James is nearly 5 and got his first, hideous and huge Hotspot. Went to the vet and was shaved and cleaned, he's now on Clavamox (he doesn't tolerate Cephalexin well) I was confused as to why no topical. Any insight from anyone who's dealt with hot spots would be gratly appreciated!

For hot spots...

Helen D'Amicus, who is a well known breeder in NJ, recommended dabbing it with plain brown Listerine on a cotton ball, let it dry and sprinkle with gold bond powder.  It works like a charm.  They can get hot spots from food (should be on a high quality grain free) or sometimes not rinsing well enough after a bath.

First off, HELLO!!! Long time no see!

I can't believe James is 5 already! Time flies!

I agree completely with Kathy. Use a dab of the original gold Listerine, put a bit on a cotton ball and sawab the site. Should dry up/heal up in no time:-) If you aren't already grain free, I suggest it as well.

So GOOD to see you again! Stick around now, would ya:-)

My Loulou can across one on her chest

I shave her chest my self. Try listeren Gold and I also put Hot spot spray on  her and apply it also. I didn't take her to the vet. It stop it and her hair back and she is beautiful now.
