HI MY NAME IS OMAR AND I WILL BE BREEDING MY FEMALE IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS, BUT I WANT TO HAVE EVERYTHING READY FOR HER. I WAS THINKING ABOUT MAKING HER A WHELPING BOX. I HAVE GONE ON THE NET AND DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON HOW TO MAKE ONE BUT I JUST WASNT SATISFIED WITH THE PLANS ON THE NET. I WAS HOPING SOME ONE COULD HELP ME OUT WITH THIS PROBLEM.
THANK YOU,
OMAR
whelping box
Hi Omar,
My litter is now almost 12 weeks old. I used a children's hard plastic swimming pool. It worked beautifully & was very easy to clean. My pups stayed in it (without being able to climb out) until they were 7 weeks old. I then moved them to an x-pen.
You'll find that many breeders use the pool. It's very inexpensive & easy to clean AND no assembly required.

i used a perla bed and a pool
Perla was for feeding time only as Bella liked to have her head up a little, at about 4 weeks they went in a pool, 6 weeks jumped out of the pool so got a bigger one at 7 weeks got out of the bigger pool too so we put an x-pen around the pool so they could not get out... (huge mess when puppies get out of the pool)

Me Too....aren't we an original bunch!!!
But it works well, is easy to move puppies and dam around in when you're trying to "switch sides" if you have a lot of puppies and easy for dam with sore stitches to get in and out of when you are there to put her in with pups.

Same here...
I dont allow the mom with the pups unattented..so really no need for a "fancy" whelping box. Mama is crated until I can be with her and the pups in the kiddie pool.
