Kennel Cough in pregnant bitch

Has anyone ever had a pregnant female get kennel cough? Do you know what the affects on the pups could be? My girl is expecting and is exhibiting signs of kennel cough, we have an appointment at the vet tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

Yes...have experienced this

Herpes virus can be mistaken for kennel cough virus as they are similar. A bitch exposed to either in the last three weeks of pregnancy is at danger as are the pups, this is especially true if it is a first litter. There is a medication that can help prevent problems. It is an antiviral drug called Panavira and is widely used in Florida. It is distributed by Anicare, Inc 1-800-476-2642. It was developed by an MD and a DVM. Dr Austin is the DVM and he will talk with you phone at length about any concerns you may have. I have spoken with him and he was very helpful. I can't put my hands on his number right now but Anicare can give it to you. Hope this helps.
