bottle feeding

I have had to bottle feed my singleton puppy since mom had no milk. I am having a lot of problems finding the right nipple and bottle. Some nipples are not fast enough and some come out too fast. He is 2 weeks old now and is a maniac when nursing and sometimes gets some in his lungs and makes those garling sounds. Can anyone give me an idea that worked for you?? 1 more week and I can start the gruel feeding. I have 3 Bulldogs but this one is a Mastiff baby.
Thanks
Roanne

Thanks

I am on my way to buy them both and see what works. He is such a stinker. He acts like he's starving to death so drinks too fast. )-:

We agree. I didn't read your post before responding..

Dr Brown's worked great. This was my first time feeding newborn pups and the Dr Brown's made it so much easier for me.

I just went through this and found the perfect bottle...

I was having trouble getting my 2 week old foster pups to eat with the Gerber's bottles. So I went to Target to check out other brands. There was a mom with a toddler walking by, so I asked her what she uses. She told me Dr Brown's bottles were her favorite because they are made to block air bubbles.

I bought the 4oz plastic bottle that comes with a #1 nipple and I bought some #2 nipples. The #1 was perfect for the pups at 2 to 3 weeks. Then I switched to the #2 nipples and finally to the "Y" cut when I was giving them formula thickened with cereal.

Walmart, Kmart, Baby's R Us, and Target all carry the Dr Brown's bottles. I highly recommend them.

Playtex Nursers with slow flow nipples

we just nursed 7 puppies from day 4 using these bottles.....alittle more expensive with buying the bags and such but made life so easy not to have to clean bottles. They were still on 3 hr feeding schedule at 4 weeks so anything that made life easier.......

To those who understand no explanation is needed. To those who don't no explanation is possible.

Re: bottle feeding

I recently bottle fed a singleton and tried many different bottles and nipples. The one I like the best is Dr. Brown, which I bought at target. They have several different flows. I got a bottle with a newborn nipple and also bought the next two stage nipples so I could find what worked best for him.

trial and error

you might go to your feed store and check out the livestock nipples.

I would think a gerber nipple would work but might need a stage 3.
