Bleeding after being spayed

I just noticed my female was bleeding, even though she has been spayed. She keeps squatting like she is peeing, even though no pee is coming out. Is it possible for her to still bleed even though she has been spayed? Or could something else be wrong? If anyone has any idea to what could be wrong, please let me know! Thank you!

Re: I can understand your frustration...and hers.

Yeah, I will definitely try the smaller meals, and I am sure she will love the parmesan because she would much rather eat human food anyway...She doesn't really have a problem drinking water, she will usually drink A LOT two-three times a day. Is this normal? BOTH of my bullies love ice cubes, so i try to give them ice cubes as much as I can especially with the warm weather. Thank you so much for the suggestions! I am going to take her to the vet tomorrow, so she can feel better.

VET VISIT

could be a uti or a stump pyo.

I can understand your frustration...and hers.

I wouldn't be surprised if she has some low resistance now, and that between some hair loss and a possible bladder infection, she doesn't feel like eating and is acting depressed. Get her on medication, ask the vet about some low-dose temporary use of prednisone to stimulate her appetite (it will also make her want to drink more and pee more, which is good too because it will flush out the bladder where an infection may be lurking). In addition try tempting her to eat by providing three smaller meals rather than the two larger ones, just for a week or two...and try sprinkling some grated Parmesan cheese or grated cheese of any type on the food to draw her interest (not much, maybe 1-2 TBSP).
Do you put ice cubes in her waterdish. Some dogs really like this, and it will draw her attention to the waterdish in addition to being generally refreshing at this time of year.

infection

Yeah, we have been to the vet recently for an update on her shots, and because she was losing hair on her flanks. BUT we also wanted to get her thyroid tested because she has been depressed and not wanting to eat her food lately. SO, do you think that could have something to do with the blood in her urine? So many things are going wrong with her lately, I just feel so bad for her.

If the doc hasn't seen your dog in over a year, you will need to

Vets cannot/will not prescribe medication for a dog they have not recently seen...its against the law and against ethical practice. Some of us have been using the same vet for many years, perhaps for multiple dogs, so when we bring in a sample the vet will check it and dispense medication...but if the doc doesn't really know you or your dog well, expect him to want to examine the whole dog.

spay

She was spayed over a year ago, so you are probably right about the infection. So I just have to take a urine sample to the vet and they can culture it?

Infection

It's possible you are dealing with a urinary tract infection.
Dogs that seem to go pee and you see blood or blood mixed with pee can have an infection. Take a urine sample to the vet. Often with the case of infection they stay down a long time as if they are peeing. Much longer than usual. How long has it been since she was spayed? If it was a recent spay she should not have blood from being spayed, but it is possible to have a little tinge that has not gone away yet.
